John von Neumann: The Man Who Invented the Digital Computer

120 years ago, John von Neumann was born. He was a Hungarian-American mathematician, physicist, computer scientist and engineer. He had perhaps the widest coverage of any mathematician of his time and despite his relatively short life, he is considered as a real polyhistor. Amongst others, he was a pioneer of the application of operator theory to quantum mechanics, he greatly contributed to the development of game theory, and he was involved in the development of the atomic bomb and the hydrogen bomb during World War II and the Cold War. He is considered to be the inventor of the digital computer.

This amazing statue remembers him in the Tussauds Museum in Budapest. It captures his genius and his charisma, and it is a tribute to his legacy.
